The Baltimore Museum of Industry presents Labor + Innovation: Echoes from the Key Bridge. Join us for an update on preserving the stories of workers and communities impacted by the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse in 2024. Project leader Maria Aldana, a local artist and historian, will lead a discussion of her work.

Echoes from the Key Bridge will feature firsthand accounts of the tragedy and its aftermath on local workers. Specifically, the project amplifies and preserves marginalized voices, including those of immigrants and laborers, whose contributions often go unrecognized. This work is made possible with support from Ports America Chesapeake and STA of Baltimore Charitable Legacy, Inc., the Baltimore Community Foundation, the Baltimore National Heritage Area, and Maryland Humanities. BMI programs are made possible with support from the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund, creator of the Baker Artist Portfolios, www.BakerArtist.org.

Fittingly, Maria Aldana brings two decades of experience working with diverse communities, collaborating and sharing through storytelling, film, murals, and traveling exhibitions. During the program on December 3, she will provide a glimpse inside the process to collect oral histories. These recorded accounts will be preserved as part of the BMI’s permanent collection.

In addition, the work of mural artist Roberto Marquez will be on display.

Read more about Echoes from the Key Bridge in a recent edition of The Baltimore Sun.
