There’s nothing we love more than a good party. But in 2020, big celebrations came to a screeching halt.

When COVID-19 hit in mid-March, it knocked out years of planning for more than 40 couples that had selected wedding dates in 2020. Most couples were able to reschedule to dates in 2021. A few weddings proceeded as planned, with greatly reduced guest counts, modified food and drink service, and a dance floor of masked guests. Two events became micro-weddings—each with less than a dozen guests—a ceremony followed by a champagne toast, with a blow-out reception to follow next year. In each case, the BMI listened to what the couple wanted and worked to achieve their vision while following ever-changing state and local capacity restrictions and health guidelines.

The BMI has taken steps to ensure the safety of guests, including creating new cleaning protocols of restrooms and high-touch surfaces, installing hand sanitizer stations, posting signage mandating masks, and working with caterers to make sure tables and chairs are compliant with social-distancing recommendations. Having a couple select the BMI for their wedding is an honor, and a responsibility not taken lightly. The BMI works closely with each couple as they plan their important day, answering every question and finding ways to accommodate their needs.

Since 1981, wedding guests at the BMI have enjoyed a stunning view of the Inner Harbor. With event spaces both indoors and out, a convenient downtown location, and free, on-site parking, the BMI offers a breathtaking backdrop for vows and celebrations that are picture-perfect, even during pandemics.
