The first post in our “Views of Sparrows Point” series highlighted an 1892 Maryland Steel Company photo album showing the earliest days of steelmaking at Sparrows Point. Today, we turn our attention to the Bethlehem Steel Company collection from Enoch Pratt Free Library and the Historical Society of Baltimore County. These photographs, ranging from approximately 1900 to 1940, show Bethlehem Steel’s steelmaking and shipbuilding operations at Sparrows Point in addition to the shipyard on Key Highway–close to where the museum is located today. The images we’ve selected date from the first 40 years of the 20th century.
